Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has suspended Otonye Briggs, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, effective immediately.
The directive was issued on Tuesday in Port Harcourt via a statement by the governor's media aide, Nelson Chukwudi.

While no reason was provided for the suspension, Hon. Bitebobo Nelson Amieye has been appointed to replace Briggs.
The suspended chairman has been instructed to hand over all council property in his possession to his successor.
