Institutional Democracy Begins With Strong Party Leadership – ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said building strong institutions required for sustenance of democratic can be achieved if political parties expected to midwife them are strong.

ADC National Chairman, Dr Ralphs Okey Nwosu, in a statement issued on Sunday, disclosed that the party will be hosting a political summit to tap from the experienced party leaders on how to sustain the nation's democracy.

“We believe all of us have a role to play to make sure that this democracy survives, and ADC as one of the leading political parties in the country, is, as in our DNA making it an inclusive affair,” he said.

The summit which holds in Kaduna on May 16, with the theme: “Solid Political Party Structure Critical to the Sustainability of the Democratic Process,” according to him, will be graced by the National Chairmen of some political parties.

Nwosu who described the use of political party as “Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV)” as inimical to political leadership, maintained that Nigeria needs “a purposeful leadership and ADC has been in the forefront of transitioning and envisioning clear pathway for the nation.

“Despite the vagaries in our polity, ADC remains the learning organisation and political party that has continued to champion collaboration, coalition building and alliances to birth a new Nigeria.”

According to him, Speakers at the summit, include Alhaji Falalu Bello, National Chairman of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Hon. Mark Adebayo, National Chairman of KOWA Party.

It will be chaired by Muhammad Lawal Nalado, former Chairman of Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC).
